Under the Dome 2x13 Recap

The season two finale of Under the Dome has aired and we have once again been left with more questions than answers. After an intense 45 minutes where I sat on the edge of my seat and yelled at most of the characters, I finished the episode with my hand in the air complaining that I had some logic problems with the second season’s final episode.

SPOILERS BELOW

Go Now certainly had its fair share of deaths with four residents of Chester’s Mill meeting their end within the 45 minute episode. Tom Tilden was killed by a lightning strike after the dome started going crazy, and Pauline Rennie died after being stabbed in the back by high school boyfriend Lyle Chumley. Pauline didn’t die for the knife wound though oh no, Rebecca Pine administered a lethal dose of morphine at Pauline’s request, a decision which played a hand in ending Rebecca’s life. When Big Jim found out his wife had been killed he took a hammer and smashed Rebecca’s head in... which is a shame, because I had only just begun to like her. Big Jim also shot Andrea in the head so there goes the town’s food source.

Barbie is revealed to be the second protector/chosen one alongside Julia which means he was the one leading the people of Chester’s Mill through the crater and out of the town. Mainly due to Julia being on the run from Big Jim and being trapped at the entrance to the crater after part of the path crumbles and she is unable to jump from one side to the other. But luckily she and Barbie are so in love since they’ve known each other for an entire two weeks, been together for one and were fighting for most of that time.

Junior was the real hero of the episode, rushing off to save his mom only to find that she had sent him away so he wouldn’t see her die. Tears galore right? At least he agrees with us that Big Jim is nothing but bad news and after running out with Sam to find Julia, Junior stays behind and shoots his dad. He doesn’t have great aim unfortunately which means Big Jim is still alive though admittedly is trapped in Chester’s Mill. Junior managed to make it all the way to Julia who tells him that Barbie will come back for them. He’ll come back for Julia maybe.

At least we know we can always count on Norrie to relate to how we’re feeling. When the residents of Chester’s Mill make it through the crater and come to what appears to be a dead end she begins yelling at the dome and begging it to show them what it wants. We hear you Norrie. We’re yelling at the dome too. Luckily our friendly neighbourhood monarch butterfly was in the area and showed Barbie the exact place to put his hand to make the wall glow blue under his handprint and then begin to disintegrate. The wall falls away and we are shown a bright white light, as well as a dripping Melanie who tells the group to follow her and that they’re going home.

Did anyone else feel like the group was going to walk through the white light and end up in a big church where the cast of Lost would be waiting? And does anyone remember that just eight days ago Sam murdered an innocent 19 year old girl? I guess not since they are more than happy to let him look after the now orphaned Aidan Tilden.

So what did you guys think of the final episode of season two? Did you have some logic problems with the episode like me? And what are you most looking forward to in season three should the show be renewed? Let me know in the comments below!!

Stay random!
