The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies Trailer 1

Image
San Diego Comic-Con has delivered once again... and this time it's in the form of a trailer for the epic conclusion to Peter Jackson's middle-earth saga, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies . The trailer goes for a little over two minutes and is not full to the brim of information, but it had just enough to tell us that this movie is not going to be a happy one. In fact, just from the trailer it's fairly obvious that this is going to be the saddest of the three films. The trailer gives us a glimpse into the destruction Smaug is going to bring down on Laketown and also a little bit of insight into the battle of the five armies that will occur throughout the film. Most of the characters in the trailer were simply there to stare at one another, but we did get some dialogue from Bard, Thorin and a voiceover from Bilbo. The dialogue was mainly about the war, and about how Thorin would rather a war over peace. Although the film is still a little under five months away,

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Teaser Trailer

Image
Well. After months of nothing but set photos and short 'Panem Address' trailers, we finally have some proper footage from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 . At San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, Lionsgate released the first official teaser trailer from the film, and have dubbed it " Our Leader the Mockingjay ." Truthfully, the trailer really doesn't give us that much. We are introduced to Plutarch Heavensbee again and also to President Coin of District 13. We also get to see a brief shot of Natalie Dormer as Cressida. The main point of the trailer though is to show how Katniss is going to be used as the Mockingjay throughout the last two films. I'll admit, I was and still am sceptical about their decision to split the last book into two films since I remember when reading the last one not a lot really happened in the first half of the book, but I have hope after the first two films were fantastic adaptations of their respective novels. Under the Dome 2x04 Recap

Oh my gosh things are going wild on Under the Dome . Big Jim and Rebecca are trying to “thin the herd”, Julia is getting suspiciously close to Sam and Barbie and the teens were able to (mostly) figure out who Melanie Cross really is. SPOILERS AHEAD!! This episode pretty much followed two distinct storylines. The who is Melanie Cross storyline, and the Rebecca and Big Jim storyline. Rebecca has been keeping track of the town’s livestock since the dome came down, and when she discovers that a piglet has died from the flu she gets blood from the carcass in order to cultivate the virus at a lab. I’ve said it before and I will say it again. I do not like Rebecca Pine. I am fully with Julia on this one! When the virus is ready Rebecca tells Jim that by releasing the virus they are allowing natural selection to occur as only the fittest will survive. It is also revealed that once the virus is airborne it could potentially infect anyone, including Jim and Rebecca. Jim doesn’t seem

Do You Want to Build a Snowman?

Image
When Frozen hit theaters last year, the world fell in love with an adorable snowman and two lovable sisters. Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven and Kristoff took the world by storm and the film's popularity simply keeps growing. This spring (autumn in America) Anna, Elsa and Kristoff will be appearing in a recurring role on ABC's Once Upon a Time , and a few days ago Disney's Circle of Stars released a cover of one of the movie's greatest hits, ' Do You Want to Build a Snowman? '. The pop version features 26 Disney Channel, Disney XD and Radio Disney stars in various lead vocals, harmony and choir roles. The song is truly something magical and the music video accompanying it shows that the Disney family is a tight-knit one. The stars of all our favourite Disney shows were seen in the video to be having fun recording the song, and behind the scenes videos revealed that the group don't often get to spend time with each other so coming together to do this cover they all

Under the Dome 2x03 Recap

All is not right Under the Dome . But then again is it ever? In this week’s episode, while the residents of Chester’s Mill were trying not to get burnt from the blood acid rain, we were also presented with more questions rather than answers, though we did finally get some insight into who our mystery girl really is. SPOILERS AHEAD!! Right from the get-go this episode sets up conflict between Barbie and Julia. Heaps of sadness for me since these guys are my definite OTP of this show but what can you do? This episode also launches directly into the idea of faith vs. science (sound familiar?), which I’m assuming is going to be a recurring theme throughout this season. It’s fairly obvious that Barbie doesn’t trust our mystery girl, but Julia does. Oh and does anyone actually care that this is only the 13 th day they’ve known each other? Yet Barbie lays claim to the house in the first few minutes of the episode. I was half expecting Julia to turn around and say excuse me bu

Doctor Who Series 8 Trailer Breakdown

Oh my gosh guys I am freaking out right now! The newest trailer for Doctor Who Series 8 is out and it looks incredible! At 60 seconds this is our longest trailer yet and although we still don't have plot lines for many of the episodes, this trailer has certainly sparked our interest. Chock-full of action, new monsters, returning monsters, familiar faces and our new Doctor, the trailer gives us plenty to be excited about before the show returns August 23rd on BBC One. So now I'm going to breakdown the newest trailer and see what it is we know so far. The trailer begins with some eerie shots of the TARDIS exploding, along with the eyestalk of a Dalek. Voiceover of Clara saying "[she] doesn't even know who the Doctor is anymore." Now that the Doctor has regenerated into Capaldi we can assume that he's going to take on a new view on life just as Tennant and Smith did when they took over from their predecessors, and obviously it's not what Clara was hoping

Sam & Cat Cancelled

Bad news for all us ' Sam & Cat ' fans. The hit Nickelodeon show starring Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande has been cancelled after only one season. The cancellation doesn't come as much of a surprise after the show was placed on "permanent hiatus" in April, following behind-the-scenes drama which saw the show only produce 36 episodes out of its 40 episode order. "Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat ," the network told Deadline  in a statement. "We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them all the best". The final episode of the show titled ' #GettinWiggy ' is set to air July 17. The show has been heading down the road to cancellation for quite some time after a major controversy concerning star Jennette. Naked photos of her were leaked online and rumours that Jennette and Ariana don't get along anymore have been getting stronger. There were also rumours circling ab

Under the Dome 2x02 Recap

The second episode of Under the Dome season two was just as good as the premiere, with some outstanding performances by select members of the cast. Colin Ford was amazing as grieving brother Joe and Grace Victoria Cox was intriguing as mystery girl Melanie Cross. SPOILERS AHEAD!! Jarbie!! Every time I see these two together I get happier and happier. They are just too adorable! After a cute little make out session in bed they discover a large number of monarch butterflies outside of the window. Julia puts her hand on the window and the butterflies immediately begin to cluster around it. Tad creepy but lovely symbolism. Big Jim is as creepy as ever by making breakfast for Joe and Norrie in an attempt to get them to talk about the dome. Luckily they don’t and Jim is once again left in the dark. Joe goes through a tough time in this episode due to his sister Angie dying in the previous episode. Junior is the one to find her in the school and strangely her body is covered by m

Ariana Grande 'Break Free' - Lyric Video Review

Get ready for a trip to outer space when you watch the lyric video for Ariana Grande’s latest single Break Free which features music producer Zedd. If you are a total sci-fi nerd like I am then you were probably geeking out over this video, since Ariana was inspired by the Star Wars franchise when making it! From the signature “a long time ago in a galaxy far far away...” seen at the beginning of the video to the lyrics rolling upwards like the opening credits of all six Star Wars films, this lyric video is not to be missed. The simplicity of the video complimented the edginess of the song, and allowed for fans to easily learn the words... after breaking the replay button by watching it for hours on end! Break Free is the latest single off of Ariana’s sophomore album My Everything . So what did you guys think of Ariana’s newest lyric video? Are you excited by the Star Wars inspiration? Or is sci-fi really not your thing? Stay random! ~ Jenna

Blended Review

Not too long ago I desperately wanted to go out on a Saturday night. All my friends were busy but my sister was keen. So what do you do with an underage sister on a Saturday night? You go to a movie! Thus, my sister and I were laughing our heads off in the cinema watching Blended . Blended is a romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore with an ensemble cast of Bella Thorne, Emma Fuhrmann, Terry Crews, Joel McHale, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Kevin Nealon and Shaquille O’Neal. The premise of the film saw two families’s travelling to Africa together, despite an awkward blind date between Mom and Dad. Normally I hate romantic comedies, but this one I thoroughly enjoyed. The jokes were funny, the acting was good and the scenery was incredible. Blended marks Sandler and Barrymore’s third collaboration; and it was easy to tell why the two of them continue to make such great films. They have great chemistry together as well as with the entire cast. It made for a very believ

Under the Dome 2x01 Recap

The first season of Under the Dome had everyone on the edge of their seats and the second season premiere was no different. The episode titled “ Heads Will Roll ” picks up right from the first season finale which saw Barbie with a noose around his neck, pink stars rising after Julia dropped the egg into the lake, and the dome turning bright white. SPOILERS AHEAD!! First up let’s talk about that new intro. I had just gotten used to hearing Julia telling us that “none of [their] secrets are safe”, and now I have to get used to hearing Barbie tell us that the dome has been there for two weeks even though I figured out that the second season premiere took place on day eleven. Oh well, I suppose they will make it to two weeks fairly quickly in this show. I just worry that they may try to make it to two months. Two dome favourites are dead following the season premiere and Sheriff Linda is one of them. After saving Barbie from being hung she is killed from being crushed against

The Fosters 2x04 Recap

So the fourth episode of The Fosters season two is titled ‘ Say Something ’ and it is full of twists and turns. This show just keeps getting better and better and every time I think I have it figured out it throws another curve ball my way. Before we talk about this latest episode, let’s talk about what we know so far. Brandon is still playing keyboard, but instead of classical he’s playing in a band run by sexy lead singer Lou. At a party held by the Foster kids while Moms were out of town Brandon and Lou sang “Outlaws”, the song Brandon wrote for Callie. Callie and Brandon are finally acting like brother and sister, and Callie still hasn't told Jude about her half-sister Sophia. Emma and Jesus have broken up and Jesus slept with Hayley, once of the dancers on the team with Mariana. Connor is no longer allowed to hang out with Jude since his Dad thinks Jude is gay and it looks like Mike may have killed Ana! SPOILERS AHEAD!! So let’s talk about the biggest event in th

Never Have I Ever - Music Video Review

In her newest music video Megan Nicole has done the impossible - made a cavewoman look attractive. That’s right, in the music video for Never Have I Ever , Megan Nicole plays a cavewoman who transports herself to modern times and proceeds to wreak havoc in a diner and crash a party. The song itself is all about out and having a good time with friends and meeting a boy who can make you feel carefree for the night. With an upbeat tempo and catchy lyrics, Never Have I Ever is a song you will never ever stop listening to! The music video is very different from Megan’s other videos, but in a good way. She’s really gone out on a limb here and done something a little different, but what else do you expect from a girl who used a bunch of dinosaurs in stop-motion animation for her lyric video? Intertwined with her cavewoman storyline are some great shots of Megan and her band rocking out in what appears to be a rocky desert. Megan’s fashion in the video is quite simple, choosing to

Ariana Grande's Break Free - Review

Ariana Grande has dropped her newest single and can I just say that I don’t have one # Problem with it whatsoever! The latest track from her upcoming sophomore album My Everything is a collaboration with music producer Zedd, entitled Break Free . The tune is funky and shows off Ariana’s vocal range perfectly. So let’s break down those catchy lyrics. The song is about finally being able to break out of a relationship that you don’t really want to be in anymore. Just take the chorus: “This is the part when I say I don’t want ya / I’m stronger than I’ve been before / this is the part when I break free / ‘cause I can’t resist it no more”. It really highlights the moment when you realise you don’t want to be in a relationship any longer and finally have the strength to break out. As always Ariana delivers flawless vocals on the song, though the tune is nothing like we’ve heard from her before. Gone is the ‘90s inspired Honeymoon Avenue from Yours Truly , these first two singles
