Under the Dome 2x01 Recap
The first season of Under the Dome had everyone on the edge of their seats and the second
season premiere was no different. The episode titled “Heads Will Roll” picks up right from the first season finale which
saw Barbie with a noose around his neck, pink stars rising after Julia dropped
the egg into the lake, and the dome turning bright white.
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
First up let’s talk about that new intro. I had just
gotten used to hearing Julia telling us that “none of [their] secrets are safe”,
and now I have to get used to hearing Barbie tell us that the dome has been
there for two weeks even though I figured out that the second season premiere
took place on day eleven. Oh well, I suppose they will make it to two weeks
fairly quickly in this show. I just worry that they may try to make it to two
months.
Two dome favourites are dead following the season
premiere and Sheriff Linda is one of them. After saving Barbie from being hung
she is killed from being crushed against the wall of the dome by a large
vehicle that was pulled in by the dome’s magnetization which is also causing
people to become unconscious.
Julia saves a mysterious girl from downing with the
help of newcomer Sam, a loner living in a cabin in the woods. Later on in the
episode he is revealed to be Junior’s uncle and Big Jim’s brother-in-law, but
it doesn’t end up being a happy family reunion since Sam blames Jim for his
sister’s death.
Barbie meets high school science teacher Rebecca
Pine and learns that she has quite a few interesting theories on the dome. To
deal with the growing magnetism of the dome, Rebecca has the brilliant idea to
build a giant magnet in the hopes of stopping the magnetism from killing
everyone in Chester’s Mill. But before they can build the giant magnet, they
have to save Norrie, Angie, Joe and Carolyn from being crushed by the McAlister
house collapsing due to the pulses.
Arguably the most adorable scene in the entire
episode and possibly the most adorable scene in the entire series, comes in the
form of Julia and Barbie’s reunion. Yes they may have only known each other for
eleven days, and yes they may have only been in a relationship for six, but
they are just too adorable together for words. I’m not going to lie to you guys;
I may have watched that scene over and over again.
History repeats itself and sees Big Jim locked in
the fallout shelter where he is taunted by Dodee’s ghost we tells him
everything that is happening is his fault. To try and save the town and most
importantly his son, Jim attempts to sacrifice himself but is stopped by Julia.
The dome clears and though Julia thinks it was her who did so, Rebecca believes
it was her giant magnet. I think I see the beginnings a feud happening here.
Junior’s Mom is alive! Or at least, we think she is.
Junior had a vision of his mom alive in a different town and though Jim thinks
it is a dream, Junior disagrees. The audience gets to see Pauline alive and
thinking of Junior, while showing us a news report of the dome on TV. That
definitely raises more questions than it answers, but I for one think she knows
more about the dome than she is letting on.
By the time we get to the final point in the episode
we know that someone else is going to die. We were promised two favourites would
bite the dust and Angie was the unlucky second victim. Her death was way more
violent than Linda’s, as she was attacked by an unseen assailant with an axe.
The last shot of the episode was her bloody hand print on a mysterious locker
which our mysterious girl was looking into before Angie startled her into
running away.
So what do you think? Are you happy that Angie and
Linda are dead? And what do you think of the new characters? Let me know in the
comments below!
Stay random!
