The Fosters 2x01 Recap
The Fosters is just one of those shows that will have
you guessing right up until the end. With great characters and an intriguing
plot, the summer premiere of The
Fosters is not one to miss. Spoiler warning ahead so if you haven't
seen the episode please be careful!!
SPOILERS AHEAD!!
We open the episode titled 'Things
Unknown' with a bruised and bloody Brandon on the ground next to his car.
It is revealed to be a flashback however and the mood is lifted when Stef
presents Jude with his birth certificate sporting his Adams Foster name. It's
not all fun and games though as Callie's adoption is denied until they have
approval from Callie's biological father Robert Quinn. Stef and Lena's license
to foster has expired and as a result Callie is taken out of the house and
placed into a different foster home where she is locked in at night because
she's a flight risk. Luckily, Stef manages to get her out, though this is the
push Callie needs to decide to look for her biological father.
Mariana has joined the dance team at
school, but a flashback reveals that a member of the team believes she only
made it because she is latino. Determined to prove them wrong, Mariana has dyed
her hair blonde (introducing Esmerelda the wig) and appears obsessed with
keeping it that way.
Not everything is sunshine and rainbows
for couple Jesus and Emma, as Emma reveals that ever since the two of them
began to date the boys on the wrestling team have treated her differently.
Jesus decides to quit the wrestling team but Emma tells him that she will talk
to the boys and that he should not quit just because of her.
In between sorting things out with Callie,
Stef is also trying to find out what happened to Ana after she never showed up
at the diner. Mike tells her to leave it alone and after doing a little
digging, Stef realises that he was the one a witness saw Ana get into a
screaming match with the night she disappeared. In the season one finale we saw
Dani washing blood off of Mike's hands after he had passed out drunk. It sure
seems like the show wants us to think that Mike did something!! Speaking of
Dani, she's moving in! This may be a little awkward for Brandon after their
sexual encounter, but she asks him not to say anything to his Dad.
Brandon has more important things to worry
about than Dani. After the doctor clears him to play again, Brandon struggles
with returning to the piano. He reveals to his Dad that he can no longer feel
the keys with his fingers. The cast has teased that Brandon will continue to
play throughout the season, but in a different way. Hopefully we don't have to
wait too long to find out what way that is!
One of the biggest shocks of the episode
came in the last few minutes. Callie serves a man at work who takes two
smoothies out to the car with him. The man of course is Robert Quinn, her
biological father who has another daughter played by Bailee Madison. I can't
wait to see how this storyline turns out!
So, all in all a pretty solid effort from The Fosters for their summer premiere.
Although the show was keeping a tight lip on what character Bailee would be
playing, I think most of us had already guessed that she would be playing
Callie's half-sister considering how much she and Maia Mitchell look alike!
What was your favourite part of the
premiere? Are you looking forward to meeting Ashley Argota's character Lou in
next weeks episode? Leave me a comment below and let me know.
Stay random!
