Doctor Who Series 8 Trailer Breakdown
Oh my gosh guys I am freaking out right now! The newest trailer for Doctor Who Series 8 is out and it looks incredible! At 60 seconds this is our longest trailer yet and although we still don't have plot lines for many of the episodes, this trailer has certainly sparked our interest.
Chock-full of action, new monsters, returning monsters, familiar faces and our new Doctor, the trailer gives us plenty to be excited about before the show returns August 23rd on BBC One. So now I'm going to breakdown the newest trailer and see what it is we know so far.
The trailer begins with some eerie shots of the TARDIS exploding, along with the eyestalk of a Dalek. Voiceover of Clara saying "[she] doesn't even know who the Doctor is anymore." Now that the Doctor has regenerated into Capaldi we can assume that he's going to take on a new view on life just as Tennant and Smith did when they took over from their predecessors, and obviously it's not what Clara was hoping for.
The trailer is full of new monsters and some of them are freaky looking! First, we see a humanoid creature who is fairly obviously a robot dressed in period garb, followed by an actual robot. Then we see an alien that actually looks like something you might see in Star Wars, and an ominous looking night. I think we can hazard a guess that the night will be apart of the Robin Hood storyline in episode 4. Also in the trailer are the Daleks, and you can bet they won't be happy that the Doctor managed to defeat them on Trenzalore in the 2013 Christmas special.
The paternoster gang is back! During the trailer we see a clip of Madame Vastra saying "here we go again", and interviews have confirmed that everyone's favourite Victorian trio will be in the series premiere, titled 'Deep Breath'. Also returning is Clara in her first full series as the Doctor's companion.
The trailer seems to indicate that this series will be darker in nature than previous series, especially as the Doctor appears to be trying to atone for his mistakes and telling Clara that they will be going "into darkness". Also revealed during the trailer is that the Doctor is now 2,000 years old. Wow. That's a lot of birthday candles!
Possibly one of the coolest parts of the trailer though is that huge T-Rex prowling around in front of Parliment House. Now that is one episode that I really can't wait to see. I loved 'Dinosaurs on a Spaceship' and the T-Rex looks like he means business.
The trailer ends with the Doctor and Clara sitting together on the TARDIS stairs with the Doctor asking Clara if he is a good man. Clara's hesitant response of "I... don't know" really sets the tone for this series. I think the Doctor is going to try to get back to when he was a good man and is going to try and stop all of the death that continues to happen around him.
Well I don't know about you but this trailer has me so incredibly excited for the newest series that I can barely sit still every time I think about it. What about you guys? What parts of the trailer have got you most excited? Let me know in the comments below!
Stay random!
